First Circle of Magic
When the gods gave mankind the gift of magic, they taught them as well how to create magic runes. The servants of the gods have taken over the glorious task of crafting and using these artifacts of divine power, whereas the Circle of the caster is that which determines the spells he is able to understand and apply.
