It is his power that distinguishes the mage from ordinary men. Endowed with the capacity to influence divine power, he is an entity for whom the common boundaries of mortality need not apply.

Once the Magus has attained a stage that enables him to transcend the limits of his existence, he may place himself upon a plane above that of mere mortals. He may pierce the confines of space and time; even the end of all being - death itself - represents no obstacle upon his path.
