Chapter Twenty-Three
The Power Contained
The force that resides and, as it were, resides unceasing within the stone, is released through the words spoken by the mage. Whether in a measured flow or in one sudden discharge is at the discretion of the caster. However, once spent, the focus is irrevocably emptied of its power, and remains but an ordinary stone.
The words by which the stored energy of a focus is unbound are known to many who practice the arcane arts. Likewise, the procedure by which an artifact is charged with energy is no longer a scholarly secret but a common practice. However, to replenish a drained focus stone, is something only a chosen few understand to do. The formula, preserved from ancient times, marks a true gift. Therefore, initiate, open your mind unto the words of this ancient power.
