Demonology - Beliar's Servants
The hierarchy of demons in Beliar's brood.
Text
About the Demon, it's Summoning and Binding
The servants of Beliar are beings from a sphere beyond our understanding. No demon appears willingly. Each of them is forced by power, bound by magic, and held here by the will of their master. Their nature, from a human perspective, can only be described as evil. They know neither compassion nor mercy.
When forced into our world, they will exploit their summoners' every weakness, every flaw in the binding, to kill the one who called them forth. For even the mightiest summoning does not last forever. The power that binds a demon to our world fades with time. The longer the servant is meant to remain – and the more complex his tasks – the more magic must flow into the binding.
Various factors influence the summoning and binding. Magical places, robes, artifacts – every form of magic proves useful. A tower infused with ancient, concentrated magic can serve as a vessel that nourishes and stabilizes the binding over long periods.
The power to bind a demon is always a bargain. And as with all dealings with Beliar, one should be very certain of getting the better end of it.
