Battle of Varant - Volume 2
The war was decided. Varant had been deprived of its seaports, vital for the supply of its armies. King Rhobar no longer lingered upon the battlefields, but left it to his generals to scatter the last remaining enemy troops. Varant now held but one great host, led by Lukkor, the most capable general of their army, who had on more than one occasion turned the threat of defeat into triumph.
Yet his army fell for a trap. It was the doing of General Lee, thenceforth hailed as a war hero of Myrtana. Although superior in number to their foe, Lukkor's men were caught in a hopeless position. Their heavy cavalry was incapacitated by the deep, marshy ground of the narrow valley, and the surrounding hills were held by Lee's soldiers, who struck again and again, cutting down Lukkor's men one after the other. The desperate foray of his troops ended in bloody failure. He was defeated.
